Shareholder Engagement

Engagement is the most developed form of responsible investment as it requires constant and long-term commitment by the investor and in-depth knowledge of the issuer.

Soft engagement is developed through periodic meetings with companies, sending communications on specific issues or on the investor’s responsible investment policy and on the sharing of guidelines, reports or other supporting material.

Hard engagement is implemented through the participation of investors at shareholders’ meetings by exercising the vote on the items on the agenda, reading the interventions and submitting motions. Its exercise aims to act as a stimulus to direct Companies towards practices with greater focus on sustainability.

Every year Etica Sgr attends the shareholders’ meetings of companies in which the funds of the Responsible Values System invest, voting and intervening in a manner consistent with the provisions of the Guidelines on Shareholder Engagement.

Direct contact with companies is not limited to the shareholders’ meeting but continues during the year in a long-term relationship perspective. In order to increase the positive impact and share best practices, many of the engagement initiatives are performed in collaboration with international networks of responsible investors.
